best cheese steak ever!!! yum....and they made it to order. I like mine hoagie style, without peppers or onions, change cheese to provolone and add mayo lettuce tomato and black olives. BOMB! they make it perfect every time. I usually go over to the store on Branciforte. They also have the best Baklava!

Lentil(?) soup was hot but unexciting, falafel sandwich below average. The place was dead. Food seemed to take forever to come out. Plenty of TVs for whatever sports programming you might be into.

This place pegs out the meh-o-meter. The food is at best just average and horrid at worst, the taps are pretty good, the service is decent and if you like loud distracting sports television with your beer and eats you'll like this place. The pizza by the slice is just okay, but ordering a whole pizza becomes a truly regrettable affair. overall.............meh.

The food used to be good here and have better management. I got a really bad Cheese Steak yesterday with uncut unedible meat. I called to today to let them make a replacement and the guy said ok but when I got there they wanted half price. Sad you mad such a bad sandwich Joes. Bye and good luck because I won't be back .... EVER!!

We ordered one turkey, bacon, cheese & avocado sandwich and one cheesesteak...Food was great! Staff was pleasant. The place has large TVs that have sports on. Somewhat of a bar-type feel. I ordered a blue moon and was definitely not served a blue moon but was still fine. Would recommend to someone who wants a quick, good bite to eat!

I have been to Joes before and the food has always been good. Tonight however it was......... AMAZEBALLS!!!! Jim was there and he started us off with Blue Moon orange sherbet floats. I have never thought of mixing beer and ice cream but holy yes please!! Then I let him order for me and he picked cheesesteak which I was skeptical because I grew up on the the cheese steak shop in castrovalley. But this was honestly by far the best cheesesteak I have ever had!!!! Will definitely make this a date night must!!!

I woulda rated higher if not for a multitude of things that were less than pleasant here. First one was the blonde girl who takes your order. She was really grumpy and if she rolled her eyes anymore I wouldn't be surprised if they fell out! It wasn't just us. We had the joy of sitting next to the cash register and I watched her scowl and yell at a ton of customers. The place smells like it hasn't been really cleaned in a long time. Smells rancid. Bathroom has overpowering smell of chemical cleansers like they dumped a whole bottle here. But it still is dirty after all that. The philly cheese steak was good.

Joes is a pretty good place for fast style food. An added bonus would be they're Mediterranean food which is pretty tasty. Last time something funny happened - my buddy and I got the same thing and we were charged different prices. Not a big deal but just funny- I'll try and provide a picture.

The roomies, bf and I were looking for some dinner before the metal show were going to at The Catalyst. We walked by this place and saw that they were playing the Warriors game so of course we decided we had to try this spot out. I blame myself for not looking at the Yelp reviews beforehand because this place had bad service with even worse food. We should have just walked out of there when the girl at the register literally had to turn around every time we asked her something to ask the person behind her for the answer. Due to this girl's incompetence ordering our food took 10 minutes. Then the place was practically empty yet our food took 30 minutes. Perhaps the clueless girl was socializing rather than running the food out to people. When I received my chicken sandwich, it was the most pathetic and sad excuse for a sandwich ever. The sandwich was all bread and I could literally count the pieces of chicken. Don't believe me? Look at the picture I posted. The chicken was so dry and bland to top it off. I also didn't appreciate that the doors were left wide open despite the freezing wind blowing through the dinning area. Overall, when you're in Downtown Santa Cruz do yourself a favor and don't eat here.

On a day trip to the Santa Cruz area and a little shopping downtown, my friend and I decided we wanted some pizza. We were walking Pacific ave and this was the first place we came across, so we stopped in. They had pizza by the slice and cold beer on tap, which was exactly what we wanted. We both ordered a slice of pepperoni and a beer. I ordered a Blue Moon and they had just run out but gave me what was left, and then a whole other beer of my choice. I got almost 2 beers out of that, so I definitely appreciated it. Our pizza slices were piping hot and HUGE! They were very tasty and we enjoyed the random daytime TV show they had on also. The only downside was their bathroom was gross and outdated. Graffiti everywhere, the mirror is totally scratched up with it that you can hardly see yourself. The sink is the kind you twist and hold for the water to come out so you can't wash both hands at the same time. The spout is not far enough so you're like rubbing/hitting the sink as you wash your one hand. Pros: good pizza by the slice and friendly staff Cons: don't have to use the bathroom here.

This could very well be my best downtown experience. We stopped in here for a quick bite before our movie. Erica helped us and was just a delight to talk to. The food came lighting fast and even though they forgot the bacon, Erica quickly brought us a side right away. They have a great selection of beers on tap. I ordered the pastrami bacon sub. So good!!! The pastrami was very lean not like some of the cheap greasy pastrami I've encountered elsewhere.

Portions are substantial. Consider sharing or at least scaling back the fries. The hamburger that my six year-old daughter ordered was massive. She got through about one quarter of it. Joe's serves exactly what you'd expect. This is comfort food, and you'll get your fill. The prices are reasonable, especially considering the location.

First time here, and definitely the last time. Waited thirty minutes for a chicken breast sandwich, with five people in the place. Originally it was not going to be wrapped up, but after wasting my entire lunch hour I asked for it to be wrapped to go. This took another ten minutes. There was a bird walking around inside and shitting on the floor. Wtf?! The counter service was meh, and the sandwich itself was terrible. No seasoning, overcooked chicken, day old avocado. The worst lunch I've had since my peanut butter pasta concoction I made when I was 5. I'd still take the peanut butter pasta over this place. What a joke and a waste of 14 bucks.

Pricey but I sure do love their philly cheese steak sandwich combo! Waitresses are generally nice also...

  • Frank B.

Food is barely edible. The bread is pretty white, everything on the sandwich is of low quality. The counter help was irritated when my bill due was $7.01, I produced a twenty. "You are going to get 99¢ change" she informed me. I guess its good she can do simple math. The restrooms are dirty with gang tags, broken toilet seat, towel dispenser that is so slow you should bring napkins to dry your hands. No mirror.

Falafels, hummus, baba ganoush - All fresh, delicious. Yeah, they have great sandwiches but their mid-eastern dishes are awesome. And a great selection of beers as well. Three locations around Santa Cruz.

I really like this Joe's. I used to eat at the location on campus at UCSC, and since I work downtown now this location is great and close to Farmer's Market on Wednesdays! Yes, sometimes you may end up waiting 20 minutes for food, sometimes only 5. But these things happen - I'm not going in expecting to be served as if I were in a 5 star restaurant, with numerous staff people waiting on me hand and foot. It's a local, laid back, Santa Cruz staple. They just put in new flat screen TV's which are great for watching games and they have great specials and drink deals! I usually get the turkey sandwich or chef salad which are really yummy (they don't skimp on anything).

Way better than the branciforte location. The people are nicer and the owner seems to always be on location. Better food too, I'll make the extra drive when i crave a calzone.

After watching a movie down the street this place was very convenient. We went in expecting a simple bar meal and were surprised to find that the meals were very large, cheap and flavorful. We ordered a beer, small pizza which was enough for two and garlic bread. All for $25. I would definitely come back to try other items on the menu.

  • Niall M.

A long hall of a premises with back and front doors open so you needed to get into a corner to get out of the wind. Indifferent service and pizza which, while tasty, was greasy as hell. Ugh

    (2)
  • Beatriz S.

Had the clam chowder bread bowl and it did not disappoint. Try it sometime. Might I also add that this place was very low-key compared to Pizza My Heart. I don't understand what the big hype is about that place. Anyway, check this place out. It's a pretty chill place to grub on some food and grab a drink. They also have big screen TVs that televise sports, and plenty of seats.

Can I give zero stars?! There were literally 4 people in here when we arrived. I was here with my two teenage girls, one ordered with me and the other changed her mind and ordered 10 mins after us when we received our food, which was pleasant, until... My other daughters food still had not arrived after 30 mins. The cooks were no longer even by the grill so I went up to ask what the problem was with a simple burger and fries order. The burger was sitting cold on the sandwich counter. There were no fries even in the basket. The clerk claimed to have called our number but had not said anything, in fact the only time he wasn't chatting with the other employees was when he came out to the dining room to turn the volume up on all the tvs. And since there were only a few people in the dining room it was weird that the burger sat in the kitchen getting cold when my older daughter and I had received our food served to the table just 10 mins after ordering. He then had the kitchen or may have even gone back to cook the fries himself, only after I came up to complain about the wait. So, we received scalding hot fries and and ice cold burger. I spent $33 here today and it will be the last time we eat here. There was no manager and the employees were not able to offer any recompense. **edit: changed to two stars after the manager showed up and refunded my $8 burger.

Stick to their specialty, pizza and subs. The sausage sub is delicious, as well as the meatball sub. The #22 bacon, ham, and cheese sub is absolutely delicious! My favorite, a good proportion of meat and veggies. But I once ordered the lasagna, it was not good. Very oily, it was basically just meat sauce with maybe 2 noodles. Not lasagna at all. Served with cheesy garlic bread that was alright, but still too greasy for my taste. The burgers were okay. Not terrible but there wasn't anything special about them either. The service was pretty good though. They were nice and brought the food over to your table.

Just had their nachos and might I say...awesome! New item coming soon! The salsa on top was super fresh. Highly recommend. Also recommend the Chicken burger and the steak bowl! Man, I think I just got hungry again thinking about it. Downtown on Pacific Ave hidden treasure!

The service timely and staff was nice and welcoming. We had cheeseburgers and a pizza. For the wide variety on the menu, it was good. I would definitely come back when I'm in the area.

My friends and I were just visiting in Santa Cruz, and we didn't have a lot of money left over for a fancy meal on the wharf so we drove around aimlessly for a place that looked good. We just randomly picked Joe's because no one had ever been there and it wasn't all that crowded. It was so perfect! Some of us ordered burgers, others got pizza, and even my veggie friend was happy. The food was such a good price and it was delicious! I've been bragging about it since. Even the customer service was superb. They were so friendly even though it was close to their closing time, and we ordered a lot of food. Overall, I really liked this place, and I can't wait to go back!

I usually eat @ Joes once a week.... Sandwiches are always consistent and delicious. Why go to Subway or Togo's when you have a local option that's 10x better and costs less?

    (4)
  • Colleen F.

3rd time and I swear this is the last. Pizza is soggy and under cooked and they messed up my toppings. Beer on tap is warm and it dishonored a great local beer. Sandwichs are bland and have more bread then meat.

  • Jonathan W.

This is exactly what we wanted! Good pizza (we had Joe's special) and a solid beer selection. Lots of TV's and lots of sport. Good to see the SC Warriors on, too.

This place is incredible!!! Very tasty food and outstanding performance. They took Less then 30 secs to attend me. I ordered the chicken burger, it was made quick and very well done! Their menu is huge and lots of food 2 choose from, and they have tv's perfect for a night out or a game!! This place is very nice and everyone should come!! if you are looking for a good place to eat, this is the place!

Best clam chowder, but always served too hot. My husband is obsessed with the Philly cheesesteak. He thinks no one can top them. Met the owner and he is super nice. We come often and they have outside seating so my shepherd can sit with us.

We had about two hours to kill before our show at the Catalyst and with no one making up their mind, we ducked into Joe's Pizza and Subs on Pacific Ave. The shop looked pretty busy, which made us think it was a good sign. However, my foodie friend quickly pointed out that any place with over 50 different sandwich selections raises a red flag. I began to agree. I ultimately decided on getting a sandwich rather a pizza slice or two. I went with the chicken breast on pita, which comes fully loaded with mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, Italian peppers, and Italian dressing. I coughed up an $1.50 for avocado. The damage was less than $10 with the avocado surcharge and a diet coke. The wait for my sandwich was no more than 10 minutes, with an employee serving it to my table. I quickly asked for some hot sauce, which they had plenty of. The portion was generous as it resembled a burrito rather than pita sandwich. Unfortunately, the pita quickly began to fall apart and made a mess on my sandwich paper. The Italian dressing did give some flavor to the rather bland chicken. The crunch veggies did help out the chicken and the soggy pita bread. I managed to finish my sandwich, but I can't say I was impressed. I think my friend was right on the money with the large sandwich selection. The menu is too large and lacks focus and should have 10 GREAT sandwiches, rather than 50 OK sandwiches. It could be that this place isn't known for their sammies but rather their pizza. Unfortunately with so many options on Pacific Ave., I might not have a chance to find out. Pros: + Pizza slices or whole pies + Large selection of sandwiches + Draft beer + Happy hour specials + Local brews + Friendly service + Great prices Cons: - Too large of a sandwich menu - Average tasting food (Chicken breast sandwich)

Paid $12 for a Philly Cheesesteak, Pepsi, and fries!? I feel it was a rip off. It was good, but a terrible value. Furthermore, their ketchup is usually empty. I had to find 4 bottles to get one that was half full.

This rating is for the downtown location only, as I'm generally a fan of Joe's. I visited with my sister this last Sunday, and we decided to stop in having both had fond memories of the location on UCSC's campus. Unfortunately, the downtown location (and I have no idea how closely the two are affiliated) didn't live up to what we remembered. The food itself was just ok, but I was completely underwhelmed by the service. What should have been a quick bite to eat turned into a 45 minute ordeal that caused us to have to take part of our order home; all we ordered were two sandwiches and an order of onion rings. I'm the first to give someone the benefit of the doubt, but I found it hard to be understanding of the fact that there were three employees working and no one seemed to be in charge. There was no communication between any of them, which I believe to be the cause behind the long wait times and the roast beef sandwich my sister received although she ordered pastrami. I will always have a soft spot for Joe's, but it isn't likely I'll be visiting this location any time soon.

I loved this place. Back in college, there were only two Joe's Pizza and Subs... One on campus and one on Soquel (a pretty far walk away from the main streets of downtown Santa Cruz). So imagine my surprise and excitement when I came back to visit several months ago only to discover that hey, there's a Joe's on Pacific Ave! When I first attended college, this place used to be a Togo's sandwich shop. Then it became an Ambroius (sp?) tea store. I don't know how many other transitions it went through before becoming Joe's, but I got the feeling that stores don't last very long in this location... Let's hope that Joe's will last though! I'd always order the pastrami sub back on campus. Sometimes I'd get a turkey sub. I don't remember whether I ever got their pizzas. On my visit, I was already full from eating somewhere else that I was disappointed I couldn't get my pastrami sub. I ordered a Greek salad instead, and it was delicious. I remember why I love my pastrami subs here so much: the fresh banana peppers. Mmm, yum! I can't wait to come back and try their subs at this location.

  • Leah K.

I love Joe's! They have great pizza, great Mediterranean food and from what I've heard good subs too! I always go for Mediterranean unless I am feeling like pizza. This is the GO TO place for pizza if you are hungry! Two humongous slices for only $5! You can't beat that.. well unless you want something less appetizing like Little Ceasars! Har har har! Just stick with Joe's, and and speaking of sticky.. for a nice sweet sticky treat try one of their Baklava's!!!!! They are sooooooo good! flaky, crispy, sticky, crunchy. Best little treat in town! (:

  • Sondra H.

They have a few really good deals, the burger special for $6 is a good one.

    (3)
  • James R.

Joe's has fairly priced food in a masculine environment. There's a few flat screen TVs wall mounted with sports playing. There isn't a sound system. It's just the tv's speakers making the sound quality very low.

    (4)
  • Avocado Donbur I.

We were hungry and didn't put too much thought into picking a great restaurant. But Joe's Pizza was surprisingly good. I would think any restaurants on main street would be tourist traps, but their food was decent. They shouldn't charge the soft drink refills though. That's sleazy.

    (3)
  • Samuel B.

I might try this pizza again but I am not impressed by it. The sauce had good flavor and the toppings were good but the crust......meh.

    (3)
  • Lana S.

Joe's is officially my new "go to" place downtown. They put in this new bar-style counter that goes the length of the eating area and put in big screen TVs EVERYWHERE! You can watch multiple games at the same time. The owner is really friendly and I can tell he really cares about good service and quality food. The staff are really nice too. So if you're looking for a chill sports hangout grill with good food and good prices, head to Joe's.

  • Brian B.

If you want better pizza, go down the street to Pizza My Heart. The sandwich I had from them was really good, though. They don't have the best sandwiches in town by any means, but they're pretty good and they have a lot of options. The "small" sandwich is actually pretty large, as well, so it's a decent value. Other than that, the shop is nothing too fancy, but it's alright. You can probably get a better meal, but you could also do a lot worse.

  • Sanjay T.

Nice place to grab an inexpensive meal. I like their lentil soup and veggie lasagna.

  • Aron H.

Joe's subs is a good place to go for a quick specialty sandwich or pizza. They offer a huge selection of premium style sandwiches which all all pretty good. My personal favorite is the Meatball Sub with Peppers. They also have pretty decent pizza and another assorted exotic foods. They have your standard list of beers and soda's and some specialty drinks. If you have not tried here is it definitely worth it.

This is a cute little local sandwich shop in Santa Cruz. My boyfriend prefers local sandwich places, so when he took me here I was interested in the different options on the menu. In the middle of a weekday, its pretty dead, but that just means our sandwiches came out quicker. There is ample space inside and out on the patio (where there a little toys for kids to play with). The sandwiches were delicious and a good sized portion. I will def be coming back here instead of going to a chain sandwich place when I'm in the area.

I was really impressed with the server here, we had a great little conversation but the pizza I ordered was one half old pizza from earlier in the day and one half fresh pizza. I was upset that I didn't get a completely full fresh pizza but I was on my way to a concert and didn't have time to complain. For a medium Hawaiian and a pitcher of beer it totaled to 30$. I probably will not come here again.

    (2)
  • Greg S.

Ugh. Got the falafel plate. Took about 20 minutes even though I was the only customer there. The falafel balls were hard as a rock and cold. It was so terrible. I couldn't eat it and threw that shit away. I tried to add my own meat and stuff to make it edible since it was takeout. Wasn't happening. They have like 80 things on the menu which made me nervous. I went for the recommended food (from the waitress) and it was horrible, so I wonder how the other 80 items are.... I mean it's just low quality food, that's it.

It was rainy and I was on my way to get a cup of coffee when my stomach started growling...I swung into Joe's and had one of the best slices of pizza I've ever eaten. It was very plain and simple, just how I like it. Fantastic alternative to Pizza My Heart, especially if you're like me and don't want a pool of grease the size of Lake Superior leaking from your pizza. I came back and had a sandwich and beer, both of which I loved. Staff is very friendly. This place is one-of-a-kind. Maybe a little on the boring side if you're looking for atmosphere, but I'm only looking for good food and Joe's is definitely a place you should hit up when you're walking down Pacific on an empty stomach.

Don't go! Racist owner who tried not to serve my daughter her slice of pizza, denied that she ever ordered it! Finally,,the waitress confirmed that she did order it and Jim, the manager, rudely served her, never apologizing,,continuing to make my daughter uncomfortable. This has never happened in all of our years of living here!

If you are craving something that will haunt your intestines for days and nights eat here! I ordered a Philly cheese steak sandwich that sent my stomach into summersaults within minutes if eating it. For the next 4 days I had stomach issues that plagued my days and nights. I called the owner to nicely tell him to speak to his staff about cleanliness & proper food handling. Owner instantly became defensive. He swore the food was 100% perfect and would not accept that possibly the food was not handled properly. I found him to be aargumentative, arrogant & rude when he should have been polite & accommodating.

This is a little different than the location on campus because the workers actually come out and serve your food instead of having to go and get it yourself when it is ready, which was kinda cool. It is pretty much the same thing as the on campus location; good subs and good pizza. I mean for Santa Cruz it's decent and will fill you up and you can go on your merry cracker jack ass way.

After a long day at the beach, as a group of 20, we went to Joe's for dinner. It was our first time there so we didn't know what to expect. It turned out to be a great choice. Food was super. Loved the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich and the Mediterranean plate. But the best part was the service. Super friendly and helpful.

I had family in town and one of them in particular wanted a calzone so we went to Joe's. They let us put a table of 8 together with no problems. The calzone special of spinach and feta cheese ended up tempted 3 of us to try it. It was very good. Not greasy at all and filled with tons of spinach. We all enjoyed it very much. The kids loved their cheese pizza and apparently the burger was "one of the best in town". The price is right, the food is good and the staff was very accommodating.

First off, I have to say the owner has a supurb idea of customer service! My friends and I came in there wearing our burning man NASA suits & Jim the owner was so impressed with our self decor that he had to give up a NASA discount that day... that experience behind us my friends. My friends and I, later in the month decided we wanted our Joe's fix. So we called up Jim & asked for the NaSa discount & he said no problem but we don't deliever to your location... now all of us were drunk had just put in a huge drunk food order & now we were stuck at another problem! So I said, "Well Jim I don't know if we can dine there tonight but all of us are really hungry..." Jim said "Say no more, Ill deliver it myself" and that he did, the owner not only honored his promised discount to us but yet delivered the food personally to our door 2 help us out & he had EXTRA Baklava (their tasty homemade dessert) with him too! What a wonderful guy & restaurant... all this made the delicious food even more AMAZING!

4 and 1/2 stars. My boyfriend and I went here when Shogun had a 20 minute wait and we only had an hour before our movie. Friday and Saturday nights, they have $3 Draft Beers and a Slice of Pizza. Lots of college kids (but that's expected on a night with such a deal. My boyfriend got the special, and a 2nd slice of Basil and Feta. Pizza was solid. Not amazing, but a SOLID B+. It was New York style, and the sauce had good flavor and tasted like they made it themselves. I got the Falafel Salad. $8 for my salad, and it had AT LEAST 12 falafels on it, and came with a side hummus and flat bread. I got stuffed off of my salad, and even with my boyfriend's help, there were still leftovers. Service was a little slow, and tables are a commodity at 7:30 pm on a Saturday night. But the food is right on for the price.

My Ratings: Quantity: 4 - Enough for two Quality: 3 - good Price: 3 - just right Location: 3 - ok and clean Parking: 3 - parking lot or street parking Service: 3 - ok Speed: 3 - just right! Overall: Not bad and would come back again if I'm in the area. My Opinion/Story: Needed to find a place to eat while in Sta. Cruz area and found this place. Decided to try it because I didn't want to walk further down to search for a place to eat. Ordered their Philly Cheesesteak and it was good. Place is ok and service is ok. Quite average but I did like the sandwich.

me and a friend ordered a large pizza, half with veggie and the other half was supreme...i didn't expect the pizza to be this good! the crust was perfect, that's if you like thin crusted pizza which i love...it was piping hot when i stuffed my face with a veggie slice...i hardly eat pizza but when i do, it's gotta be worth the splurge!!! definitely coming back again!!!

The pizza here is okay, but there's kind of no point in getting it since there's better pizza at Pizza My Heart or Woodstock's which are literally down the street! What makes matters worse is that the service is horrible. Every time I eat here I usually wait about 40 minutes to an hour to get my food. Sure when I order a whole pizza I expect to wait a while, but if it's just for a sandwich or calzone, it shouldn't take that long... One thing about Joe's though is that they have a much wider selection then other pizza places since they have food other than just pizza. However, be warned that their sandwiches are horrible. When I got mine there was nothing special about it and I would have much rather preferred getting a sub at Subway down the street (which says a lot because Subway is pretty boring). To make matters worse I truly felt the regret of my purchase as I suffered on the toilet a few hours later. I would highly recommend avoiding this place. You can pretty much get the same type of food offered here except at a much better quality within a 5 minute walk.

I was super excited when I found out that they were opening up a Joe's downtown, and bummer...it turns out to be the worst one! The burger I had here was different than the ones they serve at the other locations and not in a good way. The space itself isn't great either. The sandwiches are tasty though, so I keep coming back.

$2.50 for a slice a pizza, I guess I shouldn't have expected much. They have nice new Sharp 70" hanging to watch the game, which is nice. Other than that, extremely dirty restaurant mixed with pretty poorly made food.

I'm a fan of Joe's pizza and subs up on Water street, and liked the pizza and the falafel sandwiches there. When Joe's opened downtown, I was cheered to find a location closer to my lunchtime haunts. I'm disappointed--the pizza is meh and the falafel is grainy and tasteless. What happened here? I've been back twice and the food remains lackluster and mundane. And the staff can get easily distracted, which makes getting in and out of there at lunch in any decent amount of time an issue on busy days.

My boyfriend and I were visiting Santa Cruz and decided to get a sandwich for lunch, the first place we picked was by the beach, and it was so crowded we couldn't get within a block of the place, so we decided to try another place and happened upon Joe's and decided to try it. We weren't disappointed. I had a Joe's sub and he got a pastrami sub. We were both quite happy and I couldn't have asked for a better sandwich. The bread was thick, soft and had a nice pull to it. The meat was generous and there was a nice choice of condiments they put on them. I wish there was a Joe's by my house I would be there every week!

I used to be a Joes fan Stopped in today and tried the Schawarma combo. I know this will sound harsh but it was disgusting. I've lived in the Middle East and have had some bad and some great schawarma - this stuff is worse than the worse street vendor food I've ever tasted. Soggy and thin peta filled with runny meat and vegetables. Fries were over cooked. No wonder Joe has to have hucksters lure customers in now. Sad

The sandwiches are pretty cheap here and quite tasty, and they give you a good amount for what you pay. The pizza is too greasy for my taste which sucks because on Friday and Saturday night they have their "slice of cheese pizza and beer for $3" deal. I'm not sure of the girl's name who works the cash register sometimes but she is extremely unpleasant to order from. The only downside to the place is her rude attitude towards all the customers. Bummer.

Decent joint, however my sandwich looked hard to eat with a lot of meat for the bread to hold. I ended up eating the bread and meat separately. I like the portion size but I like my sandwiches neatly made and easy to eat. The service was okay. Didn't seem welcoming or pleasant, but we got our food at a reasonable time.

I love this place, it reminds me of college! The sandwiches are great, the prices however, are not. Come on, it's a college town!

This place has all you can eat spaghetti on Monday and Tuesday at like 11:00am to 6:00pm and it is so good and comes with salad and amazing cheesy garlic bread. They also seem to have a pretty good Middle Eastern selection which makes me feel closer to home. The customer service is so good and personal too! I like that type of thing. We will definitely be going back, no questions about it.

Just had their "Philly" for the second time and it was probably the best...wait for it...I've had on the Left Coast. My only complaint (and it's a minor one) is that they wrap every sandwich up in wax/butcher paper...even the sandwiches that aren't for "To Go". Also, the fries, though good, need to be treated a little better in their frozen state because 8 times out of 10 they arrive on the plate a little broken up. OK, 1 more minor complaint: I understand the shredded lettuce for the multitude of sub sandwiches you serve but save some in the "leaf" stage for the burgers...not so "Burger King"-ish!

Went in for lunch today to try the all-you-can-eat spaghetti with my girlfriend. Cost 3 extra dollars to get spaghetti + meatballs, but we'll talk about the meatballs later on. Waitress brought out salad with my meal, which was disappointing because it's supposed to come earlier as an appetizer. No biggie. Ate my spaghetti and meatballs (only got 2 meatballs) and took my bowl to get more pasta. Waitress said she'd bring it out to me. After about 15 minutes, she brings me out spaghetti with no meatballs! I asked about them, and she told me that I only paid for meatballs for one bowl, not all of them, and if I wanted meatballs on this bowl of spaghetti it would be an additional $3. Knowing from the first bowl that I would only get 2 meatballs, I declined. As far as taste was concerned, the spaghetti was very VERY basic, with a watery tomato sauce, making the meatballs the only real good part of the meal, but at the cost of $3 extra for each bowl of spaghetti I eat and only getting 2 meatballs, I wouldnt recommend the all you can eat spaghetti to anyone. As an Italian restaurant, you should have your spaghetti recipe down to a science that could be prepared in your sleep. To have to wait 15 minutes to get one bowl of spaghetti and it be of that quality is disappointing. I can make better spaghetti at home and not have to pay $1.50 for each meatball. I ended up spending $30 altogether and was not at all pleased. So for these things Joe's, I give you 1 star, for I know you can do better with your spaghetti, it's a staple dish at any Italian restaurant!

Ice cold beer and my (modified) veggie pizza were the best part...added mozzarella... The sausage on the pizza was horrible though. Slices are decent size and overall a decent price.

EVERYBODY knows Pizza My Heart, so I refuse to go there, it's too cliche'. We found Joe's today, and I will say that it is good enough to leave you full and satisfy your pizza craving and not break your wallet while still supporting the little guys. It was just two of us, so we went for the single (but BIG) slices, but it was nice to see that they had about 5 different kinds available (most places only sell either pepperoni or cheese by slice). Pizza is ok, a little greasy but not too bad. They had the game on and is a good place to sit and watch it with a beer. Overall, we had 2 Snapples, 3 pieces of "2 toppings" pizzas and all for $12. Very fast and friendly service, you can tell they enjoy working there. Good deal, we'll be back!

Ok the food here is totally solid their sandwiches are amazing and my hats off to the awesome bread that they use! It's perfect! It's chewy and flavorful. Now as for the service, everyone was extremely friendly and very nice my phone was running dead on a recent trip and I had to charge urgently and the girl at the counter was more than happy to let me plug into one of their outlets. It might not sound like much but I've been to many places where they won't allow you to use their outlets. I understand that it isn't what they're there for but there is no need to be rude about it. There is a local coffee house that will actually time you for one hour. I figure when there are so many choices out there it usually comes down to service and these guys were extremely pleasant about it all. Now back to the food. The garlic friends were really delicious they have this green sauce that I still haven't figured out what makes them so good or green but they were awesome! For a sub shop I think these guys here were pretty on it.

After a long day of walking we came here for a quick bite and we found it a great deli! My friends and I had a desirable experience here. I had the New York sub with avocado and it was excellent. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Overall, 4-star rating.

Some times their pizza is just the stuff your looking for... Some time's its almost soggy. Happy hour isn't bad ($3 shock top, etc) but nothing about their pricing is particularly appealing. If you are choosing between fast food (aka McDonald's) or Joe's-- definitely go to Joe's!

I'm a New Yorker and I'm very picky about pizza. (Sorry, in advance.) I thought the style of pizza was closer to something NY, but when we got our slices they tasted stale, like they had been sitting under the heat lamp for too long. Upon ordering, I was informed of a pizza slice and drink special for $3. Apparently, the guy out front was supposed to be promoting this special and had coupons to give out. They made me walk outside to get coupons. After I paid, she helped 2-3 customers and completely forgot our drinks. I forgot to mention that when I walked in, there was a customer at the counter complaining about an incorrect order or someting. When the woman walked out, the girl behind the counter made durrogatory comments in Spanish to her co-worker about the unhappy customer. The menu is ALL over the place! Are you a pizza place, a falafel house, a deli? Food: mediocre. Service: Lazy and on the verge of un-friendly. Menu: CONFUSED! i won't be back to Joe's. Sorry!

These might be the best subs in town. The burgers are also good though if you get it with cheese they give you a single small square of American. I was not impressed. I did not like their pizza at all. It was really doughy. Their service is nearly nonexistent. You order and go the pick up area. I feel ignored after I order my food. Get a sub.

Went here for the first time today. Several times before I've tried their samples of soup outside. They were quite good, and I'm sure worth trying. Today, I got a meatball, cheese and pepper sub. It was quite fantastic! I had no digestive problems like some others do, but I do have a pretty tough system. The meatballs had a nice taste without being weird, and everything else was just as good. I noticed the tap beer selection is pretty good. I'm gonna try this place for happy hour.
